We are in the heart of
Salento, a strip of
Apulian land where the
Hellenic past still lives on daily: in the local language, art, folklore. The
rural complex Appidè is located here, in the territory of
Corigliano, whose name refers to the widespread presence of wild pear-trees named appida in
Greek.
The main body of
Masseria Appidé is an old abode dating back to the end of the 18th century and belonging to an important family of the local aristocracy, the
Barons Comi di Martano.
Around the mansion you find the stalls, the store-rooms and the depots changed nowadays into comfortable rooms and suites thanks to Rota family. The buildings have been restored without modifying the original architecture and the result is an enchanting atmosphere of sober naturalness.
You can sleep in rooms with a barrel- or a star-shaped ceiling and look at flowers in old mangers. The presence of a chapel recalls that atmosphere, those days spent in a quiet scenario of such an eden that now it is still possible to live again.

Gallipoli 25 Kms,
Lecce 30 Kms,
Otranto 18 Kms), it is equidistant from the
Adriatic and
